Genetic diversity and phenotypic characterization of <i>Ochroma pyramidale</i> in plantations in Mato Grosso, Brazil

This study evaluated balsa wood (Ochroma pyramidale) plantations in the search for matrices genetic improvement. We were a total of 20 trees Mato Grosso diversity with ISSR (Inter Simple Sequence Repeats) primers, as well their diameter at breast height (DBH) and commercial (CH). The primers amplified 111 loci (97.3% polymorphic), Nei (0.32) Shannon index (0.48) indicate that there is plantations. AMOVA revealed greater variation within rather than among UPGMA group indicated formation nine groups, four which had one individual each. As phenotypic characterization, individuals 48 52 stand out having higher DBH, 30 34 presented CH. Considering DBH CH concomitantly, 12 are standards.
